Bravo to the BNYL Trio–as BNFA welcomes their regained freedom and thanks ALL activists for their efforts

by BNFA Executive Committee

The Barotse National Freedom Alliance (BNFA) wishes to say ‘BRAVO!’ to the Barotseland National Youth League (BNYL) Trio of Boris Muziba, Nayoto Mwenda and Sikwibele Wasilota over their regained freedom owing to the presidential pardon. Thanks to the efforts of ALL activists in this direction. Welcome back to freedom, beloved colleagues and compatriots in the struggle for the Right—Barotseland’s RIGHT to Self-Determination. Needless to say, as you can tell from your renewed experience over the few days of your newfound freedom that the slave conditions of the people of Barotseland have worsened over the months you were incarcerated. So it is Aluta Continua!   We just hope the Zambian government has heard our message loud and clear that incarcerations of innocent people will not scare Barotse Nationals or solve the Barotseland impasse because they have tried that for the past 50 years since 1965 when the first Barotse Nationals were arrested over the Barotseland Agreement 1964 (BA’64). It hasn’t worked since. We pledge to continue exerting pressure until all who are wrongfully held in Zambian jails on trumped up BA’64 related charges can walk free and be free to participate in the struggle for a free and self-governing Barotseland. The Barotse Royal Establish has rendered themselves irrelevant in this crusade by their own actions of betrayals, especially their recent act to withdraw from the Banjul petition.   You are most welcome back on the battlefield for the RIGHT. It is a question of continuing from where you left! Sikwiz Mwanaka, continue singing those ‘songs of freedom’. Bo Mwenda tate continue teaching our people that an idea whose time has come cannot be stopped Bo Muziba shaa, ki ku tiya mwa lingongo.   Let’s all jointly demonstrate that (borrowing the sentiment from Mandela’s Rivonia Trial statement):   "During our lifetime we have dedicated ourselves to this struggle for the Barotse People ... we have cherished the Ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which we hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be it is an ideal for which we are prepared to die".   Because in the words of Martin Luther King:   “If we have nothing to die for, we have nothing to live for”.
