BNFA WRITES THE AU COMMISSION CHAIRPERSON, DR NKOSAZANA DLAMINI – ZUMA OVER CONCERNS ARISING FROM SUSTAINED VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS BY THE ZAMBIAN GOVERNMENT IN BAROTSELAND.

The BNFA Chairman General, Hon. Clement Wainyae Sinyinda has written to the Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma expressing concerns arising from sustained violation of Human Rights by the Zambian regime against the Barotse people and Barotseland. In the letter dated November 3, 2015 making reference to Communication 429/12—The Ngambela of Barotseland and Others versus the Republic of Zambia, the Chairman General of BNFA has expressed his concern that; “... while time related due process takes its cause via the Summit of Heads of State and Government, the people of Barotseland, collectively the Complainant, in the referred to matter, continue to suffer the ravages of human rights violations at the hands of the Government of Zambia, the respondent state party, and the Barotse Royal Establishment, which the state party has compromised and now turned into its agent.”

The letter which has been copied to the African Commission for Human and Peoples Rights (ACHPR)’s Secretary General Dr. Mary Maboreke has reached both destinations by currier; being 5th November, 2015 for the ACHPR and 9th November, 2015 for the AU.

It is hoped by BNFA that the matter will be treated with the seriousness it deserves by all parties concerned.
