Edwin Lubosi handpicks defunct Barotseland Agreement negotiating team

by Maoyo Nanikelako

Beleaguered Litunga Edwin Lubosi Imwiko, has single handedly picked a team to push for the restoration the dead Barotseland Agreement 1964 against the wishes and aspirations of the people of Barotseland as enshrined in the Barotse National Council Resolutions of March 27, 2012. The team is composed of either noncommittal individuals or avowed opponents of Barotseland statehood to engage Zambia in premeditated Lungu’s campaign to gain political mileage. The following are some of the team members:
Lawyers
  1. Mwangala Zaloumis
  2. Christopher Mundia
  3. Munalula Lisimba
  4. Inambao Inambao
  5. Nelly Mutti
  6. Sakwiba Sikota
  Church leaders
  1. Bishop Chinyama Chinyemba
  2. Apostle Ingombe Ananyatele
Politicians
  1. Lioko Mbaimbai
  2. Samuel Akende Namakando
  3. Mutete Kashimani
  Activists
  1. Mulasikwanda Chazele
  2. Mushokabanji Wamui
  3. Joe Mwala
Others
  1. Yuyi Lishomwa

Already, we have time and again uncovered Edwin Lubosi’s treachery to the Barotseland cause. There is no let up to his betrayal. Lubosi has lost all credibility among the people of Barotseland. He is the worst Litunga of all time. Rather than toe his people’s line, he has chosen to go to bed with the enemy.   Lubosi has flouted everything the Litungaship and Barotseland demand of him, including turning against the decision of the March 2012 Barotse National Council (BNC), the highest policy making body in Barotseland. From the moment he turned against the people’s decision, he relinquished his authority to represent them. We urge our brothers and sisters not to allow themselves into betraying our heritage, lest we add them to the list of enemies of Barotseland. The so called activists in the team, Chazele and Wamui are currently crisscrossing Barotseland campaigning for Lungu using a government vehicle. The rest of the team members should be cautious of their participation as they are setting themselves up against the people of Barotseland.   One wonders what the basis of the negotiation will be, bearing in mind that the Zambian government willfully shattered the unitary state dream when Kaunda abrogated the Agreement in 1969; and the March2012 BNC sealed the final nail when it endorsed the repudiation, after more than four decades of pleading for its restoration.   It is common knowledge that when one party to any agreement disregards the provisions contained therein, the other party is completely absolved also. Kaunda’s haughtiness has come to haunt not only him but his successors and the entire Zambian populace. Zambia has broken up and there is nothing anyone can do to mend it. Today, Barotseland finds itself in extreme poverty with deplorable educational and health facilities. The social fabric of the Barotse society is torn apart and totally collapsed. Lubosi wants to perpetuate this misery and wretchedness. He has chosen to fight against his own people rather than with his people. Barotseland is in deep crisis; it needs a messiah.
