BNFA Itezhitezhi Region—on the shameless detention of Sinyinda

Press Release

It makes sad reading to hear of the detention of Hon. Clement Wainyae Sinyinda, leader of the Barotse National Freedom Alliance (BNFA) and former Prime Minister of Barotseland. The detention arises from the instigation of the embattled Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) working hand-in-hand with the Lungu regime. It is a very well-known fact that it was Kaunda and his regime that unilaterally abrogated the Barotseland Agreement 1964 in 1969 and thereby brought to an end the unitary state of Zambia. Why is Kaunda and his henchmen free and indeed successive Zambian regimes? Who committed treason, the one who abrogated the Agreement or the one who accepted the abrogation? The issue of treason does not even arise because Barotseland and the rest of Zambia reverted to their original status—separate territories—following the said abrogation. Why force Barotseland into an illegal union?   It is shameful that the Zambian regime continue oppressing innocent people of Barotseland while the international community turns a blind eye. The Zambian government should realize that they will be prosecuted for their actions together with their agents—the BRE—individually and collectively. We call on the powers that be to put pressure on the oppressive Zambian regime to release all Barotse political prisoners without any preconditions and stop further arrests and harassment of the Barotse. The Zambian regime is overdue in vacating the territory of Barotseland. Viva Barotse National Freedom Alliance-Viva Barotseland independence.
