The Barotse National Freedom Alliance (BNFA) cautions the people of Barotseland to be weary of the Zambian politicians and politics. We urge the people of Barotseland to desist from participating in Zambian elections and focus on liberating Barotseland. The Barotse National Council (BNC) resolutions of 27th March 2012 are unequivocal and binding. Let us focus in running our own affairs. Let us not divide our loyalties. Participation in Zambian elections and politics does not and will not help us. In fact, participation in Zambian elections and politics is betrayal. We should never ever participate in Zambian elections. Being a victim of election related violence is self-inflicted oppression.

On Friday 8th February 2019, once again, Barotseland became a battle ground for these callous Zambian politicians in the ruling and opposition parties. The people of Sisheke were reminded of the trying days of Namibian liberation wars. The people of Mongu were reminded of 14th January, 2011 massacre of innocent civilians who only wanted to voice out their displeasure at their territory’s continued annexation. The people of Barotseland should learn that by supporting the opposition parties are facilitating ushering into office a new agent of oppression. The Barotse participation in Zambian politics inadvertently gives a political approval to the illegitimate Zambian politicians whether in the opposition or ruling party to continue oppressing Barotseland. It is time to say NO to Zambia politics in Barotseland.

BNFA is profoundly distressed by the happenings in Sisheke. Does it make any sense for a politician who seeks your priceless vote to point a barrel of a gun on you and actually pull the trigger? The oft inconsequential inhabitants of the by and large forgotten town of Sisheke only become conspicuous when their vote is dangled for the highest bidder. Their well being is never the issue to Zambian politicians. These Zambian scavengers don’t give a damn about the welfare of the Sishekans, nor any Barotse for that matter for they all stand united in their continued oppression of Barotseland.
