BNFA has nothing to do with Zambian politics

by BNFA Publicity Wing

The Barotse National Freedom Alliance (BNFA) and any of its members or affiliates have nothing to do with the failed attempts to register a political formation called National Liberation Front (NLF).

Some of the members who were involved with the ill fated NLF may have been active members of BNFA in the past, but immediately they expressed desire and took action to allign themselves with Zambian politics they ceased to be BNFA members. Our constitution clearly states that “A member may not contest or be a member of any organization contesting elections in opposition to the BNFA aims and objectives, or be a member of any organization deemed to be a political party”. So those of our members who supported the formation of NLF have lost their BNFA membership.

As BNFA we know that Zambia does not mean well for Barotseland and Barotse nationals. This position has no exceptions. All those of our members who veer away from this principle lose our confidence and BNFA membership.

In the light of this, we request all Barotse nationals to stay away from Zambian politics and elections. Zambia freed Barotseland in 1969 when it abrogated The Barotseland Agreement 1964 and it has governed Barotseland since then illegally. Participating in Zambian politics is as good as endorsing the illegal occupation of Barotseland by Zambia. We should not be in denial simply because our preferred leadership has not risen to the occasion. We have been missing the opportunities to govern ourselves since 1964.

Zambians know that we are more powerful than we know; and they fear the day we shall unite and discover our strength. We are delaying our own independence by participating in Zambia elections. Right now it appears impossible to govern ourselves when self-rule and sovereignty is already in our hands. We have continued to ridicule ourselves in the eyes of the international community and our very adversary.
